The Summit

Located in the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Goshen, the Summit is a voluntary program that provides an alternative environment for students who have difficulty functioning in a traditional school environment. Our staff develops Individual Service Plans (ISP) for each student to help them succeed. Students leave the Summit program when they attain their ISP goals and return to their original school, move on to high school, or move out of the district.

A low student-to-teacher ratio and varied instructional methods contribute to student success. Students attend a full day of school, splitting the day between classroom and on-site, experiential learning settings. By partnering with community businesses, the program helps students apply classroom concepts in the real world. Communication and cooperation between teachers, parents, employers and students are essential to the program and to student success.

The Summit serves seventh and eighth grade students who:

  • Have attendance problems
  • Have chronic disruptive behavior
  • Are behind academically
  • Have been expelled
