ENL Academy
The English as a New Language (ENL) Academy is a program that helps students learn English at their own level. Students are normally split into four levels: Beginners I, Beginners II, Intermediate I, Intermediate II. All Academy students have the same four teachers: Ms. Lisa Liras, Ms. Miriam Miller, Mr. Jimmer Prieto, Mrs. Tatyana Sukhotinskaya.
This program was created because the school was concerned about our beginner and intermediate students. It helps the students become accustomed to the United States and our school system. It provides a safe and secure environment to learn English.
The students receive extra help and support from the teachers. They can build confidence before moving into regular classrooms. All the materials are given to them at their own level. We modify instruction, assignments and assessments according to the language level of the students. We choose the proper level of books for them to read and comprehend.
All classes are smaller and the students have a chance to bond with each other. It also gives the parents the opportunity to get to know the school, how the school system works, and to get to know the teachers.
Students stay in the Academy until the teachers feel they are ready to move into regular classrooms. The ENL teachers work with regular classroom teachers to modify instruction, class work and homework for the ENL students that have moved on.

La Academia de ENL es un programa para que estudiantes puedan aprender el inglés a su nivel. Este programa fue creado porque la escuela estaba preocupado por nuestros principantes y intermedios. Les puede ayudar a los estudiantes accostombrarse a los Estados Unidos y nuestra escuela. Les provee un lugar seguro para aprender el inglés.
Los estudiantes reciben ayuda y apoyo de los maestors. Pueden crecer en confianza antes de mudarse en clases regulares. Todos los materiales son dado a sus niveles. Modificamos la instrucción, trabajos y avaluaciones. Escojemos el nivel apropriado de los libros para que los estudiantes puedan leer y comprender.
Los clases son más pequeños y los estudiantes pueden tener un fuerte vínculo. También las familias tienen la oportunidad de conocer la escuela, como funciona nuestro sistema de educación y conocer a los maestros.
Los estudiantes se quedan en la Academia hasta que los maestros piensen que están preparados para las clases regulares. Los maestros de ENL están trabajando con los maestros en clases regulares para modificar la instrucción, trabajo en la clase y tarea para los estudiantes de ENL que han salido del programa.
