Band
Goshen Community Schools offers sequential instruction in Band Instrumental music beginning at the sixth grade and continuing through high school. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade band classes are year-long classes meeting every day for 70 minutes.
Elementary students have the opportunity to sign up for beginning sixth grade band in the spring of the fifth grade year. Students are strongly encouraged to attend the optional summer beginning band classes to learn about their instruments. These classes are offered during the first two weeks of June. Students who are unable to attend summer band will be given the same course of study in Beginning Band techniques when school begins in August.
The GMS bands present a minimum of 2-3 concerts per year including the Winter Concert, the ISSMA Concert Band Festival and the Pops Concert in the spring. The seventh and eighth grade intermediate and advanced bands perform many different levels and styles of music.
