Choir

A sequential choir program is offered to all sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Separate choirs at each grade level are year-long courses. GMS choir classes meet daily for 70 minutes and learn a wide variety of music. Students have the opportunity to experience singing in several languages. They also learn music theory, improvement of singing techniques, and other skills.

Annual Performances

Seventh and eighth grade choirs perform a minimum of three concerts each year. Opportunities for participation in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble contest are available in January/February each year. Students may also audition for participation in Circle the State with Song (March) and State Honors Choir (January).

Sixth grade choir members perform a minimum of two concerts each year. They also have the opportunity to perform in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble contest (January /February).

In the spring of 2005, the first annual Choral Festival unites choir students in grades 6-12 and the annual GMS Musical. Everyone (not only choir members) has the opportunity to participate in this fun and educational event.
