6th Grade Girls Basketball Parent Information
December 16, 2015
Thank you for giving your daughter the opportunity to participate in our 6th grade basketball program. This is an informational letter to describe the 6th grade girls’ basketball program.
Skills Evaluation Night
Tuesday, January 5th, is skill evaluation night in the upper gym. All players will need to go home after school and return to Goshen Middle School at 6:30pm, ready to compete in the upper gym. Parents, please wait in the main lobby for your child. Skill evaluation should take 15 minutes and then they can go home.
If your athlete is unable to attend, they will need to set up another time to be evaluated. This must be setup before January 5th because teams will be determined on that night.
The student athlete and parent must complete the Concussion Signature Form (purple form) and return to the Athletic Office prior to January 6th to be eligible to particiapte in our 6th grade girls basketball program.
No jewelry may be worn during practice or games.
All practices are one hour in length and students must be at school in order to attend practice. The first practice for 6th grade girls is January 12th from 6:30-7:30pm in the upper gym. There are one to two practices per week and games are played on Saturday morning. Parents are responsible to transport players to games and practices. Players must always be picked up no later then 10 minutes after the conclusion of practices. In the past, we have had coaches wait for as long as 40 minutes for parents to pick up their student athlete. Your daughter will be given two warnings for late pickup. The third late pickup will result in your child being released from the team. Parents, siblings of players, and friends of players will not be able to attend practice. Games will be approximately one hour in length and players should arrive 10-15 minutes before each game.
This is an intramural program. However, each team has a coach and games are regulation in length with certified referees. There is no cost to the student athlete to participate and an athletic physical is not required.
The program concludes on February 6th.
There is an admission charge for the games that are played on Saturday mornings.
Students – $2.00
Adults – $3.00
Senior Citizens- $2.00
We will provide reversible jerseys for the players during games. Players are responsible for their own basketball shorts and shoes. Shoes must have shoelaces and be tied at all times during practices and games.
Goshen Middle School will provide basketballs for practices and games. Players need to leave their personal basketballs at home.
